FAQ
What is Lemon Squeezy?
We are a service that enables associate level and fully licensed therapists in Washington state to create more profitable and rewarding private practices by providing a pathway to in-network credentialing with Premera insurance and stress-free, easy-peasy medical billing services.
How does it work?
Our members pay a monthly fee to access our services which includes credentialing with Premera insurance and ongoing medical billing services. We will verify your clients benefits, submit and follow up on claims, and track payments. We do all of the annoying and stressful insurance stuff so that you can focus on client care.
How long does it take to get started?
For associate therapists, the onboarding process takes up to 30 days. For fully licensed therapists, it can take up to 90 days.
What's the commitment?
We do not require caseload minimums or have productivity requirements. Our goal is to support clinicians in building rewarding private practices and we leave it up to you to decide if rewarding means one client or fifty.
What's the pay?
Our members keep 100% of the rate that Premera pays its clinicians for the service code provided. We do not take a percentage of your fees. Your monthly pay will depend entirely upon how many Premera clients you have. We direct deposit your Premera payments into your bank account at the beginning of each month.
How much does it cost?
Member fees are $225 per month plus a monthly billing services fee. Monthly billing services fees are dependent upon how much time our billing team spends on your account. It is difficult to give a precise answer because the fees depend on things like caseload (the more Premera clients you see each week, the more claims are submitted), complications with client's benefits that require phone calls to clients or to the insurance company, or payment errors that require tracking and accounting. The good news is that our billing team handles all of these complications so that you don't have to. It can be helpful to consider that your earnings with just one Premera client, seen weekly, will likely cover all of your monthly fees. Keep in mind that Lemon Squeezy does not take a percentage of your private pay clients.
How is this different than other businesses like it?
What sets us apart from some other businesses is that we credential with associate therapists. Other large, national services only support fully licensed clinicians. We are a small, local business and we enjoy the relationships that we develop with our members.
Would I be an employee or a contractor?
Neither. Lemon Squeezy provides a service to private practice business owners. In essence, you are a customer who receives a set of services. We provide a service agreement for you to sign that outlines the terms.
Can I take cash pay clients?
Yes, take cash pay clients! We don't get involved in your cash paying clients at all. Unlike a group practice that takes a percentage of the fees from your clients paying out of pocket, we do not.
What if I decide I no longer want to work with insurance?
You can end your agreement with us in just 30 days by simply filling out our termination form. It can be notoriously difficult to terminate a contract with an insurance company as an individual provider, sometimes taking 2-3 years. However, with Lemon Squeezy, you can decide that you are done with insurance and go off panel in just one month.
My practice is telehealth only. Is that okay?
Premera has been consistently including telehealth as a benefit in their policies to it's members. We don't anticipate that changing. Our billing team will be able to verify each of your client's individual policies to determine if telehealth is included. Most of Lemon Squeezy's members provide telehealth in their practices.
Would I need to get my clinical supervision through Lemon Squeezy?
No. We do not provide clinical supervision. Members who require clinical supervision agree to follow the DOH's requirements for appropriate clinical supervision with an approved supervisor.
Does Lemon Squeezy refer clients to us?
No, we are not a referral service. We do have a directory listing the members who wish to be posted on our site. You can see that here.
Does Lemon Squeezy offer scheduling?
No, we do not offer this type of admin support.
What are the next steps?
The first step is a phone call with our staff to have a conversation. We will answer any questions that you have and ask a few of our own. If you want to move forward, we then send some documents for you to fill out. Lastly we help you set up a few systems in your practice that will allow us to submit claims for you and for you to get paid!
